A Few things from my childhood days I can still see clearly in my mind.
Always short on time in the morning before rushing to school with my two brothers.
Getting up early morning had always been tough for us, though we tried hard to avoid our Mom’s scolding and Dad’s anger.
Our parents were trying to teach us three children some good habits –
“Be on time at school”, “Never leave home without eating a breakfast” along with many others.
While teaching us these habits, they were giving us some beliefs like:
“It’s not good to be late”,
“Skipping Breakfast is bad for health” etc.
After we followed that through with hell lot of resistance and difficulty for a significant time, we started doing that just effortlessly and automatically.

Our Habits are Deeply Rooted into our Core Beliefs
Based on the above example, our beliefs like “It’s bad to be late” and “skipping breakfast is unhealthy” took deep roots within us and still rule our behaviors.
The moral of the story is that we start picking up beliefs and habits since we are small, from our parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, and whoever we come in close contact with.
By the time we grow into adults, we have already picked up a variety of beliefs and reflecting habits from the various sources.
And the worth noting fact is, that once we learn these habits, behaviors, and beliefs, they become automatic.
And no surprise that 95% of our behavior and habits are AUTOMATIC.
That’s why we are called the creatures of Habits. Our habits determine our quotient of success or failure.
I Really Suffered Damage from these 5 Sucking Habits
Many years ago, I was helplessly struggling with a variety of painful habits, and just hoping that I would get rid of them someday.
Those habits were creating mess and chaos in my life.
In this post I am talking about these super bad habits that contributed to a chain of failures I had with my goals and desires.
It’s your Turn to Get Rid of these 5 Sucking Habits to Increase your Productivity
It takes huge effort and practice to break the pattern you are following all those endless years.
But the moment you declare this to yourself:
“No more”,
it would be possible for you to overcome them.
If you are kind of dissatisfied with the way your life is going, pause and reflect:
“Are you troubled with the habits I was suffering from years back?”
if “yes”, there is no better time to address them than now.
So, take a few deep breaths, and a deeper look inside you, have firm belief in your abilities, and read further.
The Best Way to break a bad old habit is to replace that with a new good one.
This “replacement element” is strictly essential because when we put off a habit without having it substituted with another one, this old monster usually comes back to claim its place.
So, we are going to go by the same route.
In a couple seconds, I am talking about 5 common bad habits that play a meaty role in holding us back when it comes to achieve our dreams, goals and true ecstatic happiness in our life.
I have had a close emotional connect and experience with these monstrous creatures, and I can guarantee that once you commit to get over them, you would take a leap step to smooth sailing and bigger achievement.
Check out if you relate with any of the following 5 most common and sucking habits.
1. You’re into Excessive Social Media and Phone Checking.
I was a way too much hooked up with this fascinating trap called Facebook.
This addictive network was taking too much of my time and focus that I didn’t even realize I was losing my productivity to deal with many important tasks.
How much time do you spend with your phone?
How many times you check it for social media updates?
As per the studies, an average person checks his phone 150 times a day and spends about 135 minutes everyday with this smart device.
Your phone gets luckier than your family!
I too love being on my Facebook and twitter accounts, and am absolutely not against staying connected with my friends’ network, but “too much” of anything steals your focus just automatically.
And unfortunately you cannot multitask with your focus. It must be on the most deserving aspects of your life.
Do this instead
Set aside a few minutes a few times a day to get your social media checked.
Curb the craving of checking your phone first thing in the morning to see new Facebook or twitter updates.
Replace this habit with some Reading and/or Learning Activity.
Read a good book or tune into an inspiring podcast. That’s much worth your time.
2. You Rush for a Quick Coffee or any Caffeinated Drink after a Tedious Work Hour.
I had been guilty of this several times every day. When I was working in a full-time job, my friend-cum-colleague and I were taking the coffee breaks to the extent it became an addiction. The result was hampered productivity and increased levels of anxiety.
If you too are indulging in too much caffeine, take a pause.
Instead, take a walk in an open environment. Sip in some plain water or even a soothing cup of Green tea. Focused deep breathing can also help you a great deal to recharge and fill you with fresh energy to carry on with your work.
3. You Love to Spend, and Remain Hand to Mouth.
In trying to keep up with the new age lifestyle, you can see the living examples of the habit of debt everywhere. Much of stress, worry and anxiety is caused by habit of overspending and piled up credit card debt.
If you’re one of those who can’t resist buying unneeded stuff either for the sake of “Retail Therapy” or impress the neighbors, it’s time to deal with your spending cravings.
Instead, save some money every month.
Create a habit of saving a few more bucks than the previous day just every day.
4. You don’t Resist the Temptation of digging into the easier and Smaller Tasks and Procrastinate on the Bigger ones
This habit is the biggest hurdle in the optimum utilization of our daily work time. The proven fact is that the tasks that scare us the most benefit us the most. And we humans have a natural tendency of being caught up in the simpler, easier tasks that are less demanding and procrastinating on the difficult ones.
Instead, do your three big scary tasks first before touching the smaller ones.
Mark Twain very well says that if the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you can go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that that is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you all day long.
This is a Great Tip to follow if you seriously want to throw off the habit of Procrastination and at the same time heighten your productivity.
5. You Love Munching on Fast Food & Unhealthy Quick Snacks.
In plain language, you love to live on fast food. I don’t even need to mention how bad that food is for us.
Either you don’t care about your health or even if you do, you get immense pleasure in satisfying your taste buds. As I said earlier, I have gone through this phase and suffered from this bad habit for years. After I brought it onto my “Bad Habits List”, to quit this one took strong determination and many months.
Instead, develop a habit of eating in small portions every 2 or 3 hours.
People normally eat 2-3 big meals every day and go without food for about 6-7 hours. Staying hungry for such long hours, triggers a habit of munching on unhealthy stuff. So, design a habit of eating balanced diet every 2-3-4 hours depending on your desire and hunger levels.

This is so true! Super guilty myself of no. 1 🤦♀️
I think we all are, at some point in time.
These are great tips, and made me self-reflect on my own habits as well. Thankfully it seems that money is my worst offence of this bunch, so I won’t even have to multitask hard to get myself on track with that one.

I am glad you found these tips valuable.
Thank you for the tips. I’m so guilty of wasting time on social media.
1 and 4 are the habits that have really impacted my productivity. I like the quote from Mark Twain. I’m going to write it and place it where I can see it more often as a reminder. Thanks for the useful tips.
